Fine Tune Irrigation Schedule

Differences in sun/wind exposure, slope of the ground, and system efficiencies create variations in the amount of water that plants need in different areas of the site. When modifying irrigation schedules, follow the points below:

§Lessen run time if the ground in the entire station area is wet and soft when stepped upon.

§Increase run time if the ground in the entire station area is dry.

§If dry spots or soft wet spots occur in lawn or shrub areas make adjustments to improve irrigation system inefficiencies. Use Walk-Through Site Evaluation worksheet to record the problem. Afterwards, use Walk-Through Site Evaluation Explanation and Suggestions sheets to explain the landscape and/or system conditions, and also to assist in determining what system adjustments are necessary.

§If soil is dry or slightly damp on the surface and the lawn springs back when walked on, the schedule should not be modified.  The stations irrigation schedule is on target.
