Watering Tips

 

The right controller, properly programmed, can result in significant water savings and lower water bills. The goal of an efficient watering schedule is to deliver only the amount of water that is needed by the plant. Most landscapes are over-watered by as much as 50 percent.

 

An effective irrigation schedule follows basic irrigation scheduling principles:

 

§Schedule irrigation to maximize soil’s absorption of the applied water.

 

§Fill the soil’s entire water reservoir.  The water reservoir is the area of soil beneath plants where water is absorbed into the roots.

 

§Water only when the entire root area is moderately dry.
