Bottle Tree, Kurrajong
Description
This evergreen tree will grow 25'-75' tall and produces white blooms that are magenta on the inside. It is very drought tolerant and does best in full sun. Also known as Kurrajong. Popular in western regions, this Australian native makes a statement when mature with its quivering bright green leaves glistening in the sun. Grown specimens are 30-45 feet tall and thrive in full sun with little to moderate water once established. It requires well-drained soil to thrive but little else. Planted in full sun in Western Garden zones 12-24, this evergreen will achieve a dome shaped head with a trunk that tapers toward the top. Springtime brings charming bell-shaped white flowers that grow more conspicuous in sunshine, after a dry winter, and with age. The pods that follow in the summer create a lovely rustling sound and are prized by flower arrangers. An excellent shade-producing evergreen on the coast or inland, don’t hesitate to use it in the desert as well. On streets, in parks or lawns, this fire defensible tree will bring beauty and safety to any landscape. - Boething Treeland Farms
