Hakonechloa macra 'All Gold'
Gold Japanese Forest Grass
Description
This gleaming, metallic gold "Forest Grass" holds its brilliant color all summer before turning tan in winter. The leaves are upright, spiky and are awesome in containers! Dan saw this glowing in the morning sun while visiting Suzuki-En in the Kawaguchi area of Japan. This ornamental grass does best with morning sun or part shade and well drained soil with organic components that retain moisture. Ideal pH is 5.5-6. This grass reaches 18" tall and has short creeping rhizomes, spreading 20". It is an all gold foliage form needing average watering. This plant is spectacular as a woodland accent, in containers, along pathways or entrances and to add an Asian garden look.
