An evergreen shrub that grows quickly to 5-8' tall and 6-010' wide, the harfordii bears deep yelow poppy flowers to 3" wide with orange stamens. Its heaviest bloom period is in the spring, with some flowers almost all year. The plant requires sun, good drainage, and little or no summer watering. -Monterey Bay Nursery

The California coffeeberry is an evergreen shrub that reaches 6-8 ft. high. It grows inland and has large green to black berries between in late summer. This shrub tolerates sun or partial shade in all soil types. The California coffeeberry is a native to California and is drought tolerant.
